"How to Make Delicious Pav Bhaji at Home: A Step-by-Step Recipe"

Pav bhaji is a popular street food dish from India that consists of a thick vegetable curry (bhaji) served with a soft bread roll (pav). Here's a recipe to make pav bhaji:

Ingredients:

  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper (capsicum), chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2-3 green chillies, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons oil or butter
  • 2 tablespoons pav bhaji masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon wedges
  • Buttered pav rolls

Instructions:

  1. In a pressure cooker, cook the cauliflower florets and green peas until soft. Mash the cooked vegetables with a potato masher or a fork and set aside.
  2. In a large pan or kadhai, heat oil or butter and add cumin seeds. When they start spluttering, add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chillies. Sauté for a minute or until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Add chopped tomato and bell pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the tomato becomes soft and mushy.
  5. Add pav bhaji masala, red chilli powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  6. Add mashed potatoes, cauliflower, and green peas to the pan. Mix everything well and cook for 5-7 minutes on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add a little water if the bhaji is too thick. Mash the vegetables further with a potato masher or a hand blender to get a smooth consistency.
  8. Cook for another 2-3 minutes or until the bhaji is heated through.
  9. Toast the pav rolls with some butter on a griddle or tawa.
  10. Serve hot bhaji with a dollop of butter, a squeeze of lemon juice, and toasted pav rolls.

Enjoy your homemade pav bhaji!
