How to Make Masala Bhindi (Indian Spiced Okra)

Masala bhindi is a popular Indian dish made with okra (bhindi) that's flavored with a blend of spices. Here's a recipe to make it:

Ingredients:

500 grams fresh okra (bhindi)

2 medium onions, chopped

1 medium tomato, chopped

2 green chilies, chopped

1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp red chili powder

1/2 tsp garam masala powder

Salt to taste

2 tbsp oil

Instructions:

Wash the okra and pat dry with a towel. Trim off the ends and cut the okra into 1-inch pieces.

Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add the chopped onions and green chilies to the pan and sauté until the onions turn translucent.

Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.

Add the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala powder to the pan and mix well.

Add the chopped okra to the pan and mix well with the spice mix.

Add salt to taste and mix well.

Cover the pan and cook the bhindi on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Once the okra is cooked through and tender, remove the lid and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook the bhindi for a few more minutes until any excess moisture dries up and the bhindi gets slightly crispy.

Serve hot with roti, paratha, or rice.

Enjoy your delicious masala bhindi!
