How to Make Dum Aloo - Indian Potato Curry

 Dum Aloo is a delicious Indian potato curry that is cooked in a flavorful gravy. Here's a recipe to make Dum Aloo at home:









Ingredients:


500 grams baby potatoes, peeled

2 tablespoons oil

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste

1 large tomato, finely chopped

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder

1/4 cup yogurt

1/2 cup water

1 tablespoon garam masala

2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves



Instructions:


1. Boil the baby potatoes in salted water until they are cooked through but still firm. Drain and set aside.

2. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and fry until they begin to splutter.

3. Add the chopped onion and fry until it turns golden brown.

4. Add the ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute until fragrant.

5. Add the chopped tomato and fry for 2-3 minutes until the tomato is soft.



6. Add the salt, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and turmeric powder. Mix well and fry for a minute.

7. Add the yogurt and stir well to combine with the spices.

8. Add the water and mix well to form a smooth gravy.

9. Add the boiled potatoes to the gravy and mix gently to coat the potatoes in the gravy.

10. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the gravy has thickened.



11. Add the garam masala and stir gently.

12. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
